Well Woman screening
More and more women are recognising the importance of a regular health check. It does not take long, it need not be expensive, and it is designed to identify any problems at the earliest opportunity - in some cases literally saving lives. At Marie Stopes Reproductive Choices we recommend annual Well Woman health checks to ensure that all is well. Currently there is no national cervical screening programme in southern Ireland so it is up to every woman to look after their own health for this important area.
Our Well Woman programme is designed to spot the warning signs of cervical cancer, breast disease and pelvic disorders. Our doctors and nurses will give you time to ask any questions and do a comprehensive examination with the following checks:
- Medical history
- Blood pressure
- Weight check
- Breast self-awareness teaching
- Cholesterol blood test
- Thyroid blood test
- Cervical smear test
- Urine analysis
- Time to talk
Results of any tests are sent to you or we can call if you prefer. As well as offering individual screening we can also arrange special discounts for companies who pay for their employees to have health checks.

Tip: When making an appointment, remember you can not have a cervical smear during your period. The ideal time is roughly two weeks after the first day of your period – between day 10 and day 16 of your cycle.
